Political Parties

Political parties have been around in England probably since the Magna Carta. When the Constitution was written the writers decided to reject political parties for the United States, therefore the Constitution has no mention of political parties.

Almost immediately after the Constitution was adopted the United States developed its own set of political parties, independent of those in Great Britain. The voting process which predominates in the United States very much effects the existence and nature of the parties.

These papers talk about those political parties, and the effect they have on the political process.
